Elleebana ElleeBalm Explained

Perhaps you’ve already heard a thing or two about it over the past year, and maybe you’re thinking, “I’ll stick to my trusted glue. Comfort is key, right?” Well, it’s time to set that mindset aside when it comes to Glue Balm! This innovation is one you definitely don’t want to miss out on, and in this blog, I’m going to tell you exactly why!

Glue Balms were the Lash Lift innovation of 2024, and they’re still going strong in 2025. A Glue Balm is your newest must-have for Lash Lifting – if it isn’t already! It’s a completely different product from what you’re used to, and that’s exactly what makes it so amazing. A Glue Balm is best described as “Glue without Glue.” Why? Unlike traditional glues, Glue Balms don’t harden, dry, or lock the lashes in place as regular glue does. Instead, you can think of a Glue Balm like Vaseline – it has a sticky texture but doesn’t harden!

This non-hardening property is one of the greatest advantages of Glue Balm because it allows you to perfect the lashes between Step 1 and Step 2 of the Lash Lift process. Now, you might be wondering, “If they stay in place, why would I need to adjust them?” Lash separation is one of the most critical steps to achieving a flawless Lash Lift. If lashes are crooked or misplaced on the shield, it can lead to an uneven or undesired final result.

For many, this is a time-consuming process – lashes are often stubborn and difficult to secure on the shield. They tend to pop off during application or don’t sit quite right after being glued with traditional adhesives. This happens because of the natural sulfur bonds in the lashes that cause them to revert to their original position until those bonds are broken. Once broken, the lashes become pliable and can easily be shaped as desired. Think of a brow lamination, which doesn’t use glue – it’s a perfect example of how the hair softens and becomes moldable during the lamination process.

With Glue Balm, not only can you work faster because the product itself speeds up the process, but you can also leave the lash separation as it is until after Step 1. Because the lashes remain soft and the glue doesn’t harden, you can perfectly position the lashes between Lotion 1 and Lotion 2. This provides two major benefits:

  1. The sulfur bonds are already broken, making it much easier to position the lashes.
  2. The lashes are always perfectly placed before Lotion 2 is applied, which locks them into the desired shape.

But that’s not all! Glue Balm also acts as an extra nourishing step in the treatment. For example, Elleebalm is packed with plant-based amino acids that care for the lashes during the Lash Lift process and even makes a vegan Lash Lift possible! Since the balm functions more like Vaseline and doesn’t harden, it allows for a gentle, quick workflow and effortless isolation of the lashes – all without tugging on the hairs.

You may notice that lashes can pop off the shield more easily than with traditional glue – no problem! As mentioned earlier, you can simply reposition them after Step 1. For extra security, you can use Elleebana Lift Lockers, a set of three compensators designed to hold lashes in place during each step of the Lash Lift.

Still dealing with particularly stubborn lashes, and the Lift Lockers aren’t enough? Apply a thin layer of traditional glue to the lash tips – this will keep the lashes securely in place on the shield.

Pro Tip: Use the Glue Balm with a sandwich technique!

  • First, apply a layer of Glue Balm to the shield.
  • Position the lashes onto the shield.
  • Then, apply a thin layer of Glue Balm over the lashes.

Important: Due to the nourishing ingredients in Glue Balm, you may need to extend the processing times slightly. Why? Think of the lashes as a sponge. The lashes absorb all the nourishing components of the balm, which may slow down the absorption of other products like the lotions. If you place a wet sponge in a pool of water, it will take longer to absorb the water compared to a dry sponge. The same principle applies to the lashes during this treatment.

How much should you extend the processing times?
This question doesn’t have a one-size-fits-all answer – it depends entirely on the condition of the lashes. Are they healthy, brittle, or normal? Determine the processing time as you normally would and always perform a Lash Check once the processing time has elapsed. If the lashes aren’t ready, extend the time by one minute and check again. Not all lashes require extra time, which is why performing a Lash Check is crucial.

Not sure how to perform a Lash Check? Keep an eye on our website – we’ll cover it in an upcoming blog! Or ask your questions via our Elleebana Hotline: +31 6 19 87 34 00

Will the extended processing time affect my treatment duration?
No! You’ll find that applying the lashes onto the shield is much faster with Glue Balm than with traditional glue. The time saved here can easily compensate for any additional processing time needed.

Overall, Glue Balm helps create a healthier Lash Lift treatment. If you care about your clients’ lashes, this product is an absolute must-have for your kit!
